John is an accomplished lyricist and published wordsmith who has finally turned his ‘way with words’ into a musical marvel, taking otherwise straightforward melodies and transforming them into verbal images that attempt to glorify God. He brings diverse talents together in a spirit of hope and happiness. And if that doesn’t work, he adds a few spoken words and signature guitar riffs into the mix! Russ Thorburn,
Piano and Keyboards
Russell Thorburn is a recipient of a National Endowment Fellowship and the first poet laureate of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. He lives in Marquette, where he sometimes performs with his sextet Radio On. His one-act play of a retro-alternate reality, Gimme Shelter, was set for a premiere at the Black Box Theatre but was cancelled by the pandemic.
